More than 60,000 spectators lined the riverbanks of Greenwich to watch the capital’s second Red Bull Race – an impressive 20% increase on last year’s figures.
The event, which took place on 2 and 3 August in Greenwich above The O2 and Canary Wharf, was also transmitted live on Channel 4. The race is taking part in nine cities across the globe during 2008.
Visit London commercial director David Hornby said: "This was another fantastic event for London to host. The two-day event is a really engaging one for both Londoners and visitors. Visit London was delighted to be a national sponsor, especially as it's a race that celebrates each city's unique offer and uses London's iconic venues and river as its backdrop."
US pilot Kirby Chambliss was hailed the winner of the race.
