In pictures: MTV Europe Awards

European Capital of Culture Liverpool hosted the MTV Europe Music Awards at the Echo Arena on 6 November. See some of the action in pictures.

Organised by MTV, the ceremony was hosted by popstar Katy Perry and included performances from Beyonce Knowles, Kanye West, Estelle, Kid Rock, The Killers, Ting Tings, Duffy and Pink.

Stand out performances included Pink ending the show with a massive pillow fight, while Duffy emerged from inside a cargo box.

The audience could also spy on all of the celebrities as they mingled in the Glamour Pit, a backstage area that was brought front of stage. It also featured the band 30 Seconds to Mars interviewing guests throughout the evening.

Pre-show and after show parties took place around the Albert Dock incuding one held by ACC Liverpool at Pan Am Bar.
